Hazmat placards are standardized diamond-shaped signs displayed on all four sides of a vehicle transporting hazardous materials. Each hazard class has a specific placard color, symbol, and number. Placards are required when transporting any quantity of Table 1 materials or 1,001+ lbs of Table 2 materials. Drivers must know which placards are required for their cargo and ensure they are properly displayed before moving the vehicle.
